Breast Fat Grafting
Breast fat grafting offers a natural alternative to breast implants for those who are good candidates. The procedure utilizes the patient’s own fat to be harvested and placed in the breast area for enhancement or reconstruction.
Fat Transfer To Breasts
Fat transfer is a great way to increase the size of your breasts naturally and permanently. Like any surgery, there are a few things to keep in mind. Our top plastic surgeons, Dr. Johnson has years of experience in all fat transfer/grafting procedures and has consistently yielded great results.
Who is a good candidate?
It’s important to all of us that you are happy with your results. The key is to make sure we help you find the perfect procedure for what you are looking for. Breast enhancement or augmentation with fat grafting is best for women that are looking to increase by a half a cup to a full cup. To go bigger than that would require multiple sessions of grafting. The best candidate is someone who does not have much breast sag and wants to only be a little bit bigger.
Who is not a good candidate for fat transfer/grafting?
The most essential part of fat grafting is the fat; if you are very thin, or don’t have any areas that you would like smaller, then it would not be possible to do the procedure.
Which is better for breast enhancement – breast implants or fat transfer/grafting to the breasts?
Both are great—it just depends on your goals. In the end, it is a very personal decision. If you are comfortable with having implants in your body, then breast implants would be the best and easiest way to go. If you do not want anything artificial in your body, or you are looking for a small to medium amount of enlargement, then fat transfer/grafting to the breasts would be your best option.
How do the results differ from a breast augmentation using implants?
Aside from looking and feeling very natural, fat transfer or fat grafting is only used for small to medium amounts of breast augmentation. Whereas you can become virtually any size with breast implants, with fat fat transfer or fat grafting, you usually go up about ½ to 1 cup in breast size. But as always, the most important factor in getting the best plastic surgery result is to have the best plastic surgeon!
How is the procedure performed?
Fat transfer or fat grafting is typically performed under general anesthesia, and it takes between 2 and 2 ½ hours. The fat for the transfer is obtained by performing liposuction on any other part of your body – most people have liposuction to their belly, inner thighs, or outer thighs. The fat is then processed to help assure that the most amount of fat possible survives.
How long is the recovery after fat transfer/grafting?
- To return to a light duty job: 4 – 6 days
- To work out: 1 – 2 weeks for a light workout, and 2 – 4 weeks for heavy exercising
- Driving (when you are not taking pain medication): 3 – 5 days
- To feel 100% again: 1 month
- The final result will take about 3 – 6 months to see
